Don’t have an SSL? These facts show that you’re pissing in the wind.
3 Letters. SSL. You need a secure website. HTTPS now makes up 99% of Organic search results on Google. Meaning all search results #1-#10 are sites that have an SSL Certificate. If you don’t have one, you are falling by the wayside. Even when we get down to result number #50 (page 5) the sites are 94% HTTPS. Simply put, Google is giving a heavy preference to sites that carry an SSL Certificate, after all Google is built to serve the searcher so offering secure results is a key part of their commitment to searchers. Especially after the Major Internet Security breaches this year. Secure sites are no longer just an option. Google has recently called SSL/HTTPS a “lightweight ranking signal”, the facts above support this too.
