A good project started now is better than a great project started next week. Ok, I’m paraphrasing George S.Patton’s famous quote but the message is still very clear. Begin now, at all costs.
Remote working is the new normal and you’ve adjusted to it now. You’re stuck inside with nowhere to spend your money. No commuting, no after-work drinks, no parties, no dinners, nothing. Zilch. You have no social life. The squirrel in the garden is your new best friend & your working less hours than ever before. The last time you had this much free-time you were a student in the summer holidays. Yes, it’s been going on like this for a staggering amount of time. I’m writing this to tell you, if you stop feeling sorry for yourself & take a step back, you’ll see what we see. An opportunity.
If 2 years ago I asked you what would you need to start your business, you would’ve replied either more free time, more money or both. This pandemic, for all its set backs has given us the time to realise what we want AND the time to chase it. If you’re lucky enough to be compensated for your missed hours, (Furlough, FPUC, Kurzarbeit, Chomage Partial, TWSS) then you’ve still been paid and have nowhere to spend it! Wow. Imagine that. If we actually had this conversation 2 years ago, it would’ve 100% ended with you promising yourself that when this time does come, you’ll take advantage of it. As usual, hindsight is bliss but it’s still not too late to make this time yours.
If all you’ve done is watch Netflix, grow a paunch & settle into pyjamas take this post as your reminder to snap out of it before it is too late. Start today. Do what you can with what you have. If you have an idea but you’re struggling with how to start it, message our team for free advice.
Stay positive. It’s too easy to focus on the negatives, instead try to see which elements of your chosen industry have been made more accessible by the pandemic. Unsurprisingly, telesales have benefitted in the past year as everyone is at home and easily contactable. Door-to-door sales are up, internet food orders are up, online sales are up. Plenty of industries are growing. If your industry has suffered, why not make a transition? Use this time to your advantage, you’ve had enough time to wallow in lockdown.
There are always opportunities in the chaos. Use this time to write your own success story. Don’t wait, start now. The pandemic is not going to be good to everyone, but it could still be good to you. The choice is yours!
As always, should your dream require a website we’ll be here to help you get going. We’re offering free start-up advice until April 2021. Message the team for more information.
